What’s the best use for a one-of-a-kind building? For Chicago’s Medinah Temple, almost anything — as long as it supports the vitality of the neighborhood. Taylor Johnson recently connected client Friedman Properties with the Chicago Tribune for a look at what the firm has in store for the 114-year-old landmark once Bally’s moves its temporary casino out next year. The firm’s founder, Albert Friedman, discussed his role in saving the building from the wrecking ball, bringing a series of unprecedented tenants to the space and, more recently, marketing it as an opportunity for new-to-market global brands. During a walking tour of the neighborhood with the Tribune, he also explained how River North’s 24/7 energy stems from a healthy mix of office, residential, dining, nightlife and hospitality, and how the historic building could bring a new dimension to the neighborhood’s already vibrant character. The print feature was followed by an interview with FOX 32 Chicago, in which Friedman highlighted the property’s potential (segment starts at 13:30 mark).
